Day 52: Phase 2

Some said it would never happen, others doubted it would even get off the ground, but dagnabbit, here it is, February Phase 2 mix. And what a corker it is too, even if I do say so myself.

Sadly no rest for the wicked, as I have the mini mix to deal with now, I have chosen a genre, but I can't slip anything unusual in to this one I'm afraid. Should be good fun tho so look forward to that one. Track listing and download link after the hop.

Day 51: Big Happy Birthday to Jo!!

First of all, big loving happy birthday to Jo. I'm tweaking out some serious *air mixer* on your behalf.

Right, week from hell over. Much as I don't /want/ to get blattered again, sadly I might just have to. Musical mayhem tomorrow and Sunday I reckon via Ableton, and Phase 2.

Still not decided on a genre for this months mini mix, I was thinking about either Drum & Bass, or Dub Step. The former I love, the second I loath. Ok, I don't loathe it at all, I just don't get it. It's Drum & Bass with the fun removed.

The kids love it though, so maybe I am just getting old.

If anyone has any other serious suggestions feel free to comment.

Big tings agwan this weekend.

Day 50: 1 step closer to zen

This is fast turning out to be one of the shitest weeks for a long time. Gotta use this as fuel for focus.

Must keep my eyes on the prize.

Another Friday is rolling around the corner, and barely even one baby step forward made.

A good friend is self publishing his album, up on iTunes. Good to see some self motivation, from what I've heard, it's good shizzal too. Delicately produced.

I'm off to put the beers on chill for tomorrow.

Day 49: What doesn't kill you.

Man I can get wound up pretty easy by some things. Over all I would say I am one of the most laid back people of all time. Heck I can watch a VHS rip of something downloaded from the internet, and not get really annoyed about the aspect ratio either.

But somethings really push my buttons. Unnecessary wankerism is one of them. Sometime it makes me so mad I can literally feel the years melting off of my life expectancy from the stress. Especially as the case in question today is wankerism of the worst kind. Sadly the details end there.

On a much lighter note, we haven't had anything wicked awesome for a little while, so here is something wicked awesome:

P.S. Yes I am brutally aware that I am madly behind with the Phase 2 mix, and therefore the Feb mini mix too, this weekend looks to be fairly chokka too so god knows how it's gonna pan out.

Awesome.

Day 48: Phunk it

I am almost starting do dread Monday and Tuesday Bangs... so little can possibly happen of interest, no matter how hard I try.

Not just the fact that it's plain old beginning of the week blues, they are also sorta the two busiest days at my day job... in a sort of try and get it all done before the end of the week stylee.

I can however offer up some more soviet goodness. Yesterdays video of Proxy playing live show you a taste of how I like it, but fellow countryman Marseille also cuts a mean remix too.

Marseille France - Completely unrelated.

What I particularly like about these Russian guys is that they have a brash, yet well crafted "take no prisoners" electro attacking style. However unlike their more European counterparts, they definitely inject some new flavour in to the genre.

There is definitely an aggressive military tone going on (anyone who head Raven by Proxy knows exactly what I am on about. And this goes well with pounding rhythms, and marching like dance moves.

Definitely worth checking out.

Day 47: Russian Bombs

If I ever make a riff like this, I can die happy.

Day 46: Charley got dominated.

Yo phreaks.

Ok somewhat predictably I didn't work on my mix, however all is not lost. I meddled some more with Ableton, and found a new sweet synth. I love brash punchy ravey sounds... they pave the path to enlightenment. So imagine my joy when tinkering with this synth, and I discover this beaut:

Also, does this sound familiar?

To be honest that alone made my weekend. Can't wait to have a serious wrangle with this beast. Seems to have a wealth of warm analogy giant sounds.

Just add babyoil.

Might have a wee gig at a house party next weekend, not sure yet. If nothing else will be good chance to fuck about in a semi live environment, without having to worry too much.
