Day 3

Hmm what to do today on a rainy Saturday afternoon... OK So I am not exactly off to a flying start. My MIDI controller hasn't arrived yet, and my laptop is dead so recording a mix isn't possible.

I have however been constructive and set up a myspace (add me!) and a Qik account should I ever decide to stream live or whatever...

So a bit more background then. Let's make one thing clear. I am not claiming to start DJing from scratch, to pro in one year... I think it's important to be honest about this. I have been DJing for coming up to 1 year, by that I mean mixing, playing with records etc (IE not playing out).

Am I any good? Well that's subjective obviously, all I will say is that I can beat match, but I still have my bad days. I like to play bangers, or driving tunes, though my style is changing with time.

I just wanted to clarify, I am not a total novice, in fact I have DJ'd at friends house parties etc a few times in the past, heck even at a club. The key point being tho that I was merely just playing records, and I wasn't booked... it was something I put on myself.

What I want to achieve here is something much more than that, something exciting, something people know about, something tangible.

I am basically starting from the same place, if not a bit behind many of the other talented bedroom DJs out there, so my aim is to prove that what I achieve, can in fact be achieved by anyone.

I am still loosely forming my plan of attack, this I will work on over the week. But there will be a structure, a method to the madness.

I really wanted to get some pictures up, but rain has called off play, so that will be tomorrow.

In the mean time

peace&&love

Day 2

OK, so let me explain, by means of a more formal introduction. My name is Bang, Bang the DJ. I decided that 2009 was going to be my year... How was it going to be my year? Well there are many ways to make a year I guess, I was spoilt for choice. But choose I did.

For most of my life I have been in to music, predominantly DJ based dance music. From the early days of Rave, through Drum and Bass, right up to 'Fidget' house. I have never really liked being passive, I always like to be involved with the things that I like, and I have had various dabblings with club promotion, writing, production etc... but only minor flirtations.

How then was I going to make this year my year... well there was only one option really to FINALLY become a DJ. Not just any DJ, a successful one. Now I know what you're thinking... "Oh yeah right... like its that easy, join the queue" etc... Well you are absolutely right, it's not that easy, and for exactly that reason it's worth having a go in my opinion. Who wants to do something that's easy.

My intention is to work damn hard, to be damn resourceful, and damn clever. Pull out all the stops, take a new approach, refuse to take no for an answer.

By the end of the year I hope to have achieved what could be considered as a measure of success in the world of DJing (this is to be quantified in another post). This blog serves the purpose of recording my meteoric rise to the top on a day-by-day (yup really) basis.

The end result? 365 proven steps to DJ success.

Over the next few days I will make clear exactly where I am starting from, what I hope to achieve by the end of the year, and some vague plans as to how I will acieve this (this will obviously evolve as the year goes on).

For now tho, I am just looking forward to the challenge, to moving forward, and taking what is rightfully mine.

Peace&&Love, Bang.

P.S. One more thing... names and locations will be changed to protect the innocent.
